When purchasing a home, applying for the mortgage loan is stressful for most people, but it doesn't have to be.
I have excellent relationships with many mortgage lenders in Dickson, and they've helped me learn a few things that can make the process of applying for a loan very easy.
1 – Make a list of questions regarding your loan program
Make sure to have a list of questions if you find that you do not perfectly grasp the pros and cons of all the various loan programs.
I or one of my lenders will be able to assist you in understanding the advantages and disadvantages of both programs, because it's a challenge to understand the characteristics of both fixed and adjustable rate mortgages.
2 – Determine when you want to lock
When you lock in the rate, it indicates that the mortgage lender holds to the interest rates for the loan – often at the time the loan application is submitted.

3 – Determine if you want to pay additional points to reduce your rate
Normally you can decide to pay additional points to lower the rate of your mortgage loan. Each point is 1 percent of the loan and is payable in cash at closing.
